## 1. Direct Double Dipping

**Mugshot** - leaderboard rewards for voting activity (already directly compensated by protocol-level Vote2Earn incentives).

## 2 Recursive Rewarding

**Dappies, VeLottery** - rewarding for interacting with other dApps where the action is already the subject to B3TR allocation, behavior resulting in redundant compensation for the same activity.

## 5. Governance

**Avoco, Cleanify, Cleanmate, EcoMeal, Greencart, Groncard, Mugshot, St3pr, Vetrade** - no UI with all endorsed apps and opt-out option.

**Terrademia, VeDelegate** - background updates without dedicated user-confirmed transaction.

**Evearn** - no UI with all endorsed apps and opt-out option; background updates without dedicated user-confirmed transaction.

## 6. Anti-Bribery Measures

**Green NFT Marketplace** - manual rewards conditioned on voting for that specific App.

**ScoopUp** - “x2earn” multiplier conditioned on voting for that specific App.

## 7. Capital Integrity

**VeInvite, B3dtime, Bikademy, Sproutly** - using allocation or grant funding received from the VeBetter DAO Treasury to vote in weekly App allocation rounds.

## Reward multipliers conditioned on voting behavior

As a separate section, I want to highlight reward multipliers. While they are against the current rules (already directly compensated by protocol-level Vote2Earn incentives), reward multipliers serve as a **passive anti-farming measure**. Current version of the guidelines have not yet caught up on the evolvement of the ecosystem. I’ve excluded these cases from the table.

### Before introduction of reward multipliers

- Farmers have lesser incentive to hold on to their B3TR;
- Create larger farming networks;
- Instant selling pressure;
- Less work needed for a financially justified farming activity.

### After introduction of reward multipliers

- Farmers have incentive to hold on to their B3TR;
- Create smaller farming networks;
- Postponed selling pressure;
- More work required to justify farming activity;
- Easier farming detection.

### Avenues of abuse

As mass wallet users are more incentivized to participate in voting, this reduces the voting power and rewards of genuine ecosystem participants. Also, app owners have reduced interest in dealing with bad actors as they are increasing their allocation via votes.

## Recursive rewarding - does it need DAO allocations?

This audit brings up the question about apps rewarding actions already subject to B3TR allocation. On one hand, such activity can encourage usage of ecosystem apps, improving the overall usage metrics and app discovery; on the other hand - redundant compensation brings monetary value to the app developers (implement once, get a weekly share of the allocations). Current version of the rules can’t distinguish between a positive, neutral and negative effect of recursive rewarding.

## Conclusion

Rules introduced through **[Introduce Fair Use Rule to Prevent dApp-Level Redundant Incentive Loops](https://governance.vebetterdao.org/proposals/44152250438943884062434103573124650362722284846407941118984384695777887098183)** proposal are outdated and need additional discussion and modifications to address current situation in the ecosystem.
Few projects have reached out and informed their willingness to become compliant with the [RuleBook for Apps](https://docs.vebetterdao.org/developer-guides/rulebook-for-apps).

**Disclaimer** : This compliance audit was performed to the best of my knowledge using currently available data. Given the evolving nature of the VeBetterDAO ecosystem and findings of new facts, this audit does not guarantee complete accuracy.
