This proposal aims to increase the flexibility and forward compatibility of the VeChainThor blockchain by introducing a new transaction envelope format inspired by Ethereum’s EIP-2718, which standardizes transaction envelope types and simplifies the addition of new transaction types. VeChainThor currently supports a single transaction format, which has limited extensibility, making it challenging to introduce new transaction type features. Adopting a standardized transaction envelope format, VeChain can simplify the process of introducing new transaction types, ensure backward compatibility with existing transactions, and foster innovation by allowing developers to experiment with new transaction types within the same network.
