Proposal: Removal of apps not rewarding users

Removal of Apps Consistently not Rewarding Users

Summary:

This proposal identifies applications that have failed to reward users for four or more consecutive weeks and proposes that these apps be blacklisted from the DAO ecosystem until the issues are resolved.

Rationale:

To maintain a high-quality and trustworthy ecosystem, it is important that only functional and actively rewarding applications remain visible within the DAO. Applications that are non-functional or consistently fail to reward users can create a poor experience, particularly for new users discovering the ecosystem for the first time.

Blacklisting inactive or non-rewarding apps helps ensure that users engage only with reliable applications that are delivering value as intended.

Proposed App List

The following applications have not rewarded users for the last four consecutive rounds and are proposed for blacklisting:

  • DreamFruits

  • TrashDash

  • Bye Bye Bites

  • GoPaperRoo

  • B3ttery

If the application owners resolve the underlying issues, a future proposal may be submitted to restore the app to the ecosystem through a whitelisting process and renewed endorsement.

Implementation

If this proposal passes:

  • The listed applications will be blacklisted from the DAO ecosystem.

  • The applications will no longer be visible within the governance app.

  • The applications will stop receiving weekly allocations.

Application owners may request re-whitelisting through a new governance proposal once the identified issues have been resolved.

Good idea, but this proposal would mean that in the future we would need to submit more proposals to remove apps in a similar situation.

Should this proposal not be written more general:

any app that fails to reward users for 4 consecutive rounds, now and in the future, will be removed from the DAO.

That way we can easily get rid of dead apps in the future in a similar situation without having to go through another proposal for those specific apps.

Yes great proposal idea @VeBetterStats and strong agree re: follow up question @greenambassador

To add, in order to streamline the process of both Blacklisting, and then Whitelisting, it might be a good move to present the process for both in a proposal at the same time - forgive me if that is already the original intention.

it could be scaled :
After 2 weeks no reward distributed : stop receiving weekly allocations.
After 3 weeks if app dev fail to provide an explanation on the reason why: no longer be visible within the governance app.
After 4 weeks without any change/plan to change : blacklisted from the DAO ecosystem.

hey @GreenAmbassador You are right, and i was thinking that if this proposal passes should another one follow to add the automatic mechanism. Perhaps its better just to do the automatic mechanism all in one proposal? wdyt?

My thoughts here is to add a new app status “suspended”, this is different to “blacklisted” which is a permanent status. Suspended is a temporary status that apps could automatically go into, and come out of, if they meet certain conditions:

Entry Criteria

Apps will automatically enter a “suspended” status if they meet the following criteria:

  • App is active and endorsed for >= 4 rounds
  • App has not rewarded any sustainable actions for >= 4 rounds

Suspended Status

Once an app is suspended, the consequence are:

  • App can be continued to be voted on
  • App only receives 50% of its weekly allocation, the other 50% is given back to the DAO
  • An app badge of “Suspended” is show in all places in the governence app
  • The minimum suspension term is 2 rounds
  • The maximum suspension term is 6 rounds (see below)

Exiting Suspension

To exit suspension the app must make > 10 sustainable action rewards over 2 rounds. If this criteria is met then suspension is over and the app now receives 100% of its weekly allocation. If this criteria is not met, it remains in suspension status.

However if an app stays suspended for more than 6 rounds, then it is automatically blacklisted. This is a upper time limit for suspension status.

I can expand that more, was just some first thoughts!

The proposal in voting for support states in summary 4 weeks and in the long text 10 weeks. Is that not inconsistent? I guess the 10 weeeks in the long text is leading and the 4 weeks a typo?
