Straight to the point
This is a live thread listing farmer wallets that participate in voting.
-
Goal: Provide app owners with farmer wallets so they can signal them.
-
Target Audience: Multi-wallet farming networks that participate in voting and distort allocations.
-
Expected Result: Improved allocation quality and increased voting power to legitimate users with weight.
-
Out of Scope: Non-voting wallets and users with minor violations.
The Flow
- Post the evidence: I post a message detailing a wallet network involved in voting. This includes the wallet list, the main wallet, supporting screenshots as proof, and a brief description.
- Signal coordination: A user with the
signaler_rolereplies to my message confirming they are signaling these wallets. This step prevents “double-tapping” (multiple users trying to signal the same wallets simultaneously). - Update metrics: The total count of signaled wallets is updated accordingly.
- Remove the evidence: To avoid bad actors learning from this thread, relevant evidence is removed.
RAQ (rarely asked questions):
Q: Why not report farmers directly to farmed app owners?
A: It isn’t always in an app’s interest, as doing so reduces their total vote count and overall allocation. Also, app owners might not be able to signal immediately/lack motivation, resources and time.
Q: My app isn’t being farmed; why should I care?
A: Even if your app has strong anti-farming measures, you still lose out on allocations when unmonitored farming networks dump their votes into competing apps.
Q: Is it ethical to signal wallets farming other apps?
A: Counter-question: Is it ethical to benefit from farmer votes while reducing the fair allocations of fellow apps?
Q: Is this worth doing if farmers can just spin up new wallets?
A: It depends on whether this initiative gains traction. Collective effort works wonders. Doing nothing will achieve exactly that - nothing. I’d rather give it a shot.
Q: What’s your favorite metal band?
A: Igorrr. Viva la France.
Q: I found suspicious wallets, but I don’t know how to analyze them. Can I send them to you?
A: Absolutely. I use Wallet Watcher for my research - an intelligence layer built by Reheat. Spotting farming on-chain patterns on WW is easy and effective. I prefer messages here on Discourse, but I’m also reachable on Discord and Telegram.
Q: Is there a risk that a legitimate user gets signaled?
A: Yes, the risk exists. To minimize false positives, I focus exclusively on multi-wallet networks with high-confidence farming setups. I won’t share the exact detection methodology as bad actors might be lurking.
Q: How often will you publish updates?
A: That depends on community interest. This is a side-quest, not my primary focus within the DAO. Drafting proposals that target root causes is more effective than simply treating symptoms like farming. That said, collective action works wonders, and this is a practical step we can take right now.
Q: Could this backfire or have a negative side effect?
A: Yes. If we annoy farmers enough, these networks might sell off their tokens and leave for good. While that could trigger a short-term dip in price, it radically improves the long-term health of the DAO, redirecting funding and vote power from feeding parasites to genuine participants.
Reduced activity metrics: if a farming network is forced to leave the ecosystem, his n amount of wallets disappear from activity metrics (voting/unique wallets). This might be an unpleasant reality-check treatment for some.
Q: What do you gain from farmers getting signaled?
A: Pure joy.
Disclaimer: Sybil research carries risks of false positives, which places a shared responsibility on both myself as the researcher and apps as the signalers. To minimize the risks, I solely focus on high confidence multi-wallet setups. if a case is borderline or hard to prove, it’s a no-go territory. That said, human and software errors can still happen. Signal at your own discretion.
