[VeBetterDAO Proposal] From Token Grants to Real Investment: Greening the VebetterDAO dApp Ecosystem

No More Free Rides: Make dApps Earn Real Investment

Proposal Summary

This proposal suggests a new investment framework for dApps within the VebetterDAO ecosystem. Instead of relying solely on B3TR token-based voting rewards, dApps should be encouraged—and eventually required—to attract external green funding (grants, seed capital, or investment from conventional funds). This change would support more sustainable growth, reduce sell pressure on B3TR, and position VebetterDAO as a serious early-stage impact investor.

Motivation

Currently, dApps in the VebetterDAO ecosystem depend entirely on B3TR tokens received through community voting. This creates a closed-loop system with limited real-world financial exposure and growth potential. As a result:

  • dApps remain small and unscalable.
  • They eventually need to sell B3TR, increasing sell pressure.
  • This damages B3TR’s value, DAO’s credibility, and dApps’ long-term sustainability.

Meanwhile, green investments—such as sustainability startups, carbon solutions, or ESG-compliant platforms—are among the fastest-growing categories globally. Banks, funds, and regulators are actively looking to finance such ventures. VebetterDAO should help its dApps align with this trend and access external capital.

Detailed Specification

We propose that:

1-Seed Investment by DAO: VebetterDAO may initially support promising dApps through voting and B3TR-based seed funding, as is currently done.

2-Green Investment Mandate: After a defined period (e.g., 12–24 months), dApps must prove that they are capable of attracting at least one form of external green funding (fiat-based investment, grant, or revenue from a conventional partner).

3-Sustainability Filter: Only dApps that align with real-world sustainability, green innovation, or climate action will be eligible for continued support.

4-Sunset Clause: If a dApp fails to attract external backing by the deadline, it becomes ineligible for further DAO support, regardless of the votes it receives.

5-Revenue Recycling: If a DAO-funded dApp raises external capital or generates revenue, a part of it can be returned to the DAO to buy and burn B3TR, boosting token value.

Goals

Encourage dApps to behave like real startups and pursue long-term sustainability.

Align the ecosystem with global green investment trends and real-world impact.

Reduce B3TR sell pressure by attracting fiat-based capital from external sources.

Eliminate low-effort or unsustainable dApps that game the voting system to receive B3TR without delivering meaningful value.

Increase transparency, quality, and financial discipline in the ecosystem.

Establish VebetterDAO as a respected early-stage investor in scalable green innovation.

Risk Analysis

One potential risk is that some dApps may not be mature or developed enough to attract external investment within the expected timeframe. To mitigate this, the proposal includes a transition period of 12 to 24 months, during which these dApps can receive mentorship, improve their business models, and prepare for real-world funding.

Another risk is that filtering support based on “green” investment criteria might unintentionally exclude creative or niche projects that still deliver value. To avoid this, the definition of sustainability will be kept broad but clear, allowing a wide range of impact-driven projects to qualify.

There is also a risk that some dApps may attempt to manipulate the system by presenting fake partnerships or fabricated investment deals. To address this, the DAO can require verifiable documentation, due diligence materials, or third-party confirmations to validate such claims before continued support is granted.

Success Metrics

% of dApps that attract fiat-based green investment within 12–24 months.

Reduction in total B3TR sold by dApp teams.

Increase in DAO treasury from returns or profit-sharing.

Growth in total ecosystem valuation (B3TR price, dApp reach, funding raised).

Number of external investors or partners engaged in the ecosystem.

Community Engagement

Host regular community calls with dApp teams to present progress and fundraising plans.

Organize a “Green Demo Day” where selected dApps pitch to real-world green investors.

Create a public dashboard showing investment status and revenue data for each supported dApp.

Open a feedback forum for refining the definition of “green investment” to match community values.

Conclusion

This proposal aims to transform VebetterDAO from a token-based funding loop into a dynamic launchpad for real-world green innovation. By pushing dApps to seek external investment and sustainable revenues, the DAO strengthens its own financial health, boosts B3TR’s value, and supports a truly impactful ecosystem. Let’s vote to create not just dApps, but actual green startups that scale beyond the blockchain.
