[VeBetter DAO Proposal] - Updated GM NFT Tier System

Proposal Summary

This proposal introduces a redesigned GM NFT tier system aimed at increasing participation, driving DApp usage, and creating a sustainable, recurring funding stream for the VeBetter DAO treasury. The updated model lowers entry costs, emphasizes measurable sustainable actions, and expands B3TR/VOT3 token utility through holding requirements and optional maturity bypass fees.

By shifting the focus away from high upfront costs and toward long-term engagement, this proposal makes GM NFTs more accessible while strengthening the DAO’s economic and behavioral incentives.

Proposal Type

On-chain Action

Added Features

The proposed system introduces the following new mechanics:

  • Sustainable Action Requirements
Each GM NFT tier now requires a minimum number of total sustainable actions, directly incentivizing DApp usage and on-chain activity.

  • B3TR/VOT3 Holding Requirements
Each tier includes a minimum B3TR/VOT3 holding requirement as a signal of long-term commitment.

  • NFT Maturity Periods
Each GM NFT level includes a maturity period before enhanced rewards become active.

  • Optional Maturity Bypass
Users may pay an additional B3TR fee to the treasury to bypass maturity periods, creating an ongoing revenue stream.

Modified Features

  • Significantly Reduced NFT Fees
The total cost to acquire and upgrade GM NFTs is substantially reduced compared to the current system.

  • Treasury Allocation
All fees—NFT purchases and maturity bypass payments— to flow directly to the DAO treasury.

Removed Features

  • None
While fees are reduced, reward structures remain unchanged from the current GM NFT system.

Motivation

The current GM NFT tier system has seen limited adoption due to its high cost of entry. This proposal addresses that issue by lowering fees and refocusing the system on meaningful participation rather than capital intensity.

The revised model prioritizes:

  • Increased sustainable actions through DApp usage

  • Greater accessibility for users regardless of financial capacity

  • Long-term treasury growth through repeat interactions and upgrades

Keeping fees low allows broader participation, while action-based requirements make the DAO more attractive to enterprise partners and ecosystem builders. A modest B3TR/VOT3 holding requirement further reinforces commitment without creating excessive barriers.

If a user’s B3TR/VOT3 balance falls below the required threshold, their GM NFT status is revoked. However, a user’s total sustainable actions never reset. If they later choose to re-enter the system, they only need to meet the holding and action requirements, pay the applicable fees, and restart maturity periods (or bypass them).

This design encourages continuous NFT engagement, generating additional treasury funding.

Detailed Specification

GM NFT Tier Requirements

GM NFT LEVEL FEE TO TREASURY (B3TR) TOTAL SUSTAINABLE ACTIONS B3TR/VOT3 HOLDING REQUIREMENT
Earth 0 3 0
Moon 50 100 500
Mercury 125 250 1,000
Venus 250 500 2,500
Mars 500 1,000 5,000
Jupiter 1,250 2,000 10,000
Saturn 2,500 4,000 20,000
Uranus 12,500 6,000 30,000
Neptune 25,000 8,000 40,000
Galaxy 125,000 10,000 50,000

Maturity Periods and Bypass Fees

Each NFT tier includes a maturity period before enhanced rewards become active. Users may optionally bypass this waiting period by paying an additional B3TR fee to the treasury.

NFT levels cannot be skipped, even if all requirements are met.

Example

If a user holds 50,000 B3TR/VOT3 and has completed 10,000 sustainable actions, they must still upgrade sequentially through each GM NFT level.

  • Total maturity time (without bypass): 225 days

  • Total standard upgrade fees: 167,175 B3TR

  • Total maturity bypass fees (optional): 1,650 B3TR

  • Maximum total cost with full bypass: 168,825 B3TR

Maturity Schedule

GM NFT LEVEL MATURITY PERIOD (DAYS) FEE TO BYPASS (B3TR)
Earth 0 0
Moon 5 10
Mercury 10 30
Venus 15 60
Mars 20 100
Jupiter 25 150
Saturn 30 210
Uranus 35 280
Neptune 40 360
Galaxy 45 450

Conclusion

This proposal delivers five key benefits to the VeBetter DAO:

  1. Makes GM NFTs significantly more affordable and accessible

  2. Encourages broader participation, upgrades, and repeat treasury funding

  3. Increases DApp usage and on-chain activity through action-based progression

  4. Introduces a modest B3TR/VOT3 holding requirement to reinforce commitment

  5. Expands real utility for B3TR/VOT3 tokens

Overall, this redesigned GM NFT system aligns goals for users, the treasury, and the broader VeBetter ecosystem—supporting long-term growth and sustainability.

Thank you for proposing this update to the GM NFT tier system, Orbit. While I appreciate the intent to boost participation and DApp usage in the VeBetter DAO ecosystem, I have significant concerns about the proposed changes, particularly around accessibility, value preservation, and fairness to existing holders.

First, the GM NFTs should be seen as an investment not something that you get that easily, the requirements (fee and vot3 required) are too easy to get. If anyone can get it, the GM System becomes irrelevant, and there will be bots with moons, decreasing the value of the GM Pool and the future of the cosmic climb.

Second, there is a lack of provisions for existing GM NFT holders who’ve already invested heavily. Many of us paid thousands in B3TR to secure our tiers, only to see the entry bar lowered to a fraction of that cost. Without any grandfathering, refunds, or compensatory mechanisms (e.g., retroactive reward boosts or exclusive perks), this feels like a retroactive devaluation of our contributions. Have these early adopters simply lost out? This could erode trust in the DAO and discourage future investments if proposals can so easily undermine prior commitments.

As it stands, this proposal is a firm no from me.

Hey Orbit. While the intention to increase accessibility is good, the added complexity, sequential gating, maturity delays, and revocation mechanics introduce unnecessary friction + we just passed Cosmic Climb.

Given that Cosmic Climb was implemented first, we should allow time to evaluate whether it is performing well before introducing another major redesign.

Additionally, I believe GM NFTs should not be widely accessible, as exclusivity is part of what gives them value and meaning.

For these reasons, my vote is no.

Updated to double the holding requirements and double the sustainable actions requirements. Also, updated maturity bypass costs to make it more expensive to bypass as you move up the ranks… x2, x3, x4… and so on. Lastly, updated the fees to align with our current system but 100X less for each, which makes it fair across the board. Rewards remain the same.

This makes it so it doesn’t devalue the current NFT system as much. The current system is not sustainable as it makes zero sense to upgrade past a Moon NFT. Even the price of a Moon NFT is too expensive for most people who will use the DAO. Ultimately, token price and ROI should play a very limited factor when someone is considering whether or not to upgrade. The answer should always be a YES when considering. This new system benefits the entire ecosystem regardless of individual financial situations. Keeping the entry barriers low allows those in developing countries to participate. It also adds millions of transactions to VeBetter, it creates constant funding to the treasury, and it increases B3TR/VOT3 token utility.

Perhaps there is a way to repay those who have already purchased an NFT and/or have upgraded.

This sounds like a short-term thinking without any tangible improvement long-term.
Ok, let’s assume this goes live, smaller wallets purchase the upgrades. At first, it is super profitable as the barrier of entry is significantly lowered, while the reward pool remains the same. And then it reaches it’s peak, where the pool rewards are diluted, it makes no more sense to buy/upgrade (long ROI). And we’re back where we started. The only difference - there are more GM NFT holders an the system is a bit different.

In my opinion, the problem is not high barrier of entry. It’s lack of utility. Now, looking back at how “restoring the GM NFT system“ played out, I shifted my attitude from pro to anti. While we eliminated any benefit of pooling, upgrading, as you said, has no financial benefit.

What I did like about your proposal are few details that maybe could be explored in the future:

  1. Maturity period;
  2. Minimum B3tr/Vot3 holdings;
  3. Minimum number of total sustainable actions required for certain upgrades;
  4. The option to bypass the minimum requirements by paying a fee.

And congrats on your first proposal on Discourse! It is easy to read and well put together.
Keep em` coming!
