Proposal: Removal of VeSwap and VeStation from VeBetterDAO

Proposal: Removal of VeSwap and VeStation from VeBetterDAO

Summary

Based on substantial evidence of vote manipulation, I propose that VeSwap and VeStation must be removed from the VeBetterDAO ecosystem. This proposal outlines a pattern of suspicious activity that strongly suggests these platforms are farming votes via bot wallets to artificially inflate their allocation.

Evidence of Vote Manipulation

Bot Wallet Voting Patterns

[Update] Here is a link to the data from 2,300 wallets suspected of farming votes. Link to CSV
Once it was brought to VeSwaps attention in Round 38, they added votes for popular apps like Mugshot, Greencart, Cleanify to obfuscate. In Round 39, they also added several different dApps to obfuscate.

  • In Round 39, approximately 1,400 suspected “bot” wallets were observed voting in an identical pattern yesterday, voting all at the same time.
  • Last week, Round 38, there was also a bot attack of 1000+ wallets, farming votes, with these wallets voting exclusively for VeSwap and VeStation. (Evidenced here and here)
  • In Round 39, they added votes for a few additional dApps, likely in an attempt to obscure the pattern. (VeLottery, Carbonlarity, VeDelegate, Betterbag, Nubila). This pattern is similar to the voting pattern that VeStation itself voted in Round 39 as evidenced here: The GraphiQL
  • All bot wallets received passports via VeSwap via 3 proofs for liquidity providing. (Evidence here)

Treasury Withdrawal Patterns

  • The VeStation treasury wallet has withdrawn 100% of their allocation for the past two consecutive weeks.
  • These withdrawals were executed by VeSwap.io, establishing a clear connection between the two platforms.
  • Verification link: veDelegate.vet
  • Both apps were launched from the same GitHub owner “P233”, further evidence of the connection between these two platforms,

Fund Movement Trail

  1. All VeStation withdrawn funds were transferred to this wallet: 0x9FbAaD5AcC6a17b60908F903Cc9EA73903906e74
  2. Just before the 1,400 bot wallets began voting, this wallet sent 218,557 B3TR to an OceanEx account
  3. These tokens were then “sold” to the OceanEx hot wallet: 0x4b1809708FBfc198CD3B3e3824f20e6c4c47dE95
  4. This mirrors last week’s pattern when 194,000 B3TR were sent from the same account to the OceanEx hot wallet immediately preceding the previous bot farming/voting activity.

Bot Wallet Funding Pattern

  • Analysis of the suspected bot wallets reveals that all received their initial deposits from OceanEx. Example Bot Wallet
  • Each wallet was seeded with both VTHO and B3TR via OceanEx.
  • While the OceanEx side obscures further tracking, the timing and pattern of these transactions establish a compelling connection.

Implications for DAO Integrity

This systematic manipulation undermines the democratic principles of our DAO and disadvantages legitimate projects that play by the rules. If left unchecked, this behavior:

  1. Diverts resources away from deserving projects
  2. Undermines trust in our governance process
  3. Sets a dangerous precedent for future manipulation

Proposed Action

I propose that the VeBetterDAO community:

  1. Vote to remove VeSwap and VeStation from the DAO’s supported applications.
  2. Implement additional measures to detect and prevent similar vote manipulation in the future.
  3. Consider establishing penalties for projects that engage in such behavior.

Discussion

I welcome community input on this proposal. If you have additional evidence or alternative perspectives, please share them here so we can reach an informed decision.

I completely agree with this proposal to have them removed from the DAO, especially considering how they have been dodging answering concerns raised internally by multiple DAO dApp owners.

I invite both these dApps to publicly, in this thread, address the following two questions:

  1. It is clear that both dApps share the same wallets, code base and server/web infrastructure, why do you keep saying that you are separate teams?
  2. Explain the funneling of funds through oceanex to start a vote farm.

Without a clear and convincing reply I will use my full voting power and call to action to my dApp community to get them removed.

I disagree with including additional measures and penalties into this proposal.

While I do agree this needs to be put in place, let’s take our time to think this through and submit it in a separate proposal, while giving stakeholders a clear proposal on the veswap/vestation situation as quickly as possible.

I repeat my thought, I find this behavior from these dapps incredibly disgusting.
There should be no place for them in the DAO.

Agreed. Let’s keep the proposal focused on just removal. More measures for preventing this type of behavior in the future can come later.

Agree with keeping the proposal simple. No need to mix up a clear yes/no vote with a topic that requires ample discussion. I’d like to add that these practices are repulsive and I hope that, once this proposal comes to pass, other dApps doing the same thing correct themselves accordingly.

I agree with the proposal to remove VeSwap and VeStation from the DAO’s supported applications.

The other two points should both be a separate proposal. They also should be further elaborated. For example: it’s not stated who should Implement to additional measures to detect and prevent similar vote manipulation in the future.
Or what is ment by “such behavior”. I imagine what is meant is: actions that could damage the DAO. Is it just about what Vestation/ VeSwap has done, then it is strange (in my view) not to deal with this in the same way every time. Unless it involves a graduated system from a warning to ultimatum remedium removal

I agree with the proposal to remove VeSwap and VeStation from the DAO’s supported applications.

How can we do this when we know that everything is visible on-chain?
This damages the reputation of the DAO, we must act quickly and without kindness.
To VeSwap and VeStation, you weren’t subtle enough… and you burned yourselves
I’m looking forward to the vote!
