Executive Summary

ScoopUp is a mission-driven dApp that incentivizes responsible dog waste cleanup through B3TR token rewards. Using a three-step photo verification process, users earn crypto for actions that protect water sources, reduce waste, and lower carbon emissions. Already live on VeBetterDAO, ScoopUp seeks a $30,000 grant to accelerate its v2 rollout, expand impact, and scale adoption.

Project Overview

Problem

In the U.S. alone, 83 million dogs produce over 10.6 million tons of waste annually, which equals about 29,000 tons per day. Despite 60% of dog owners cleaning up responsibly, remaining waste contributes to water pollution, bacterial runoff, and public health risks.

Each cleanup action by a user helps prevent approximately:

  • 12.5 liters of water contamination
  • 127g of unmanaged waste
  • 42.5g of CO₂ equivalent emissions

Solution

ScoopUp transforms everyday cleanup into community impact. Users take three verification photos (waste, bagged waste, bag at trash bin) and receive B3TR tokens as rewards. These tokens can be used to purchase real-world items, donate to animal charities, or redeem services.

Key Features:

  • Web2/Web3 hybrid interface with blockchain-based rewards
  • Triple photo verification for authenticity
  • NFT-based reward tiers
  • KYD (Know Your Dog) identity layer to prevent abuse
  • Real-world token utility (products, gift cards, donations)

UN SDG Alignment

  • Clean Water and Sanitation
  • Responsible Consumption and Waste
  • Climate Action

Measurable Impact (Per Cleanup)

Metric Value Methodology
Water Protected 12,500 ml 125g × 100 ml/g
Waste Managed 127 g 125g waste + 2g biobag
CO₂e Prevented 42.5 g 125g × 0.34g CO₂e/g

*Figures based on conservative estimates using EPA and public health data.

Competitive Advantage

Unlike other Web2 apps (e.g., Pooper Snooper), ScoopUp verifies real-world sustainability impact on-chain and rewards users via crypto. It brings transparency, gamification, and environmental impact tracking into a single platform.

Target Market

  • Dog owners
  • Pet waste removal companies
  • Dog walkers and pet care service providers

Revenue Model

To be implemented, including:

  • Web Store (eco-friendly pet products, ScoopUp merchandise)
  • In-app advertising
  • ScoopUp+ subscription model
  • Donation conversion fees (approx. 10%)

Growth Strategy

Revenue will be generated through partnerships, data services, and the ScoopUp web store.

  • Partner with pet retailers, clinics, groomers, and pet services to offer discounts and targeted ads
  • Provide anonymized data on waste hotspots to public agencies, municipalities, and developers
  • Launch web store allowing B3TR redemption for eco-friendly products or nonprofit donations (e.g., PAWS, Humane Society)

Applicant Remarks

Hello VeFam, this is Mr. Whittleman from ScoopUp. Thank you for considering our grant proposal.

We’ve consistently demonstrated thoughtful, transparent stewardship of B3TR and a deep commitment to the VeChain community. With our app live on VeBetterDAO, we’re requesting a higher upfront allocation to retroactively fund MVP development and accelerate our v2 update. Key upgrades include simplified verification, smart contract enhancements, and GronCard integration to bring real-world utility to B3TR.

We’ve intentionally delayed full-scale marketing until key features—like social login, Stellapay, and in-app voting—were nearly complete. With those in place, we’re ready to scale.

ScoopUp isn’t just an app—it’s a mission to make dog ownership cleaner, more rewarding, and more community-driven. Users earn B3TR by picking up pet waste and can redeem it for dog treats, gift cards, or donate to animal charities—turning everyday responsibility into real impact.

We believe ScoopUp reflects the spirit of VeBetterDAO: practical utility, sustainability, and shared purpose. We would be honored to have your support.

Foundation Remarks

Mr. Whittleman is a core and highly active member of the VeFam community and one of the more influential voices in the space. His commitment to ScoopUp predates any grant support and has been marked by consistency and passion. ScoopUp has strong potential to drive real-world impact while onboarding Web2 users to the VeChain ecosystem through global dog welfare efforts.
