Executive Summary

ZeLoop is a web2-user-friendly mobile app that rewards users for eco-friendly actions like recycling plastic bottles, mapping bins, and reporting litter. With over 30,000 users and 7,000+ collection points across 70 countries, it makes sustainability engaging through gamification, geolocation, and blockchain-powered incentives.

Funding will support a two-phase rollout: initial wallet and challenge integration, followed by a dedicated app and new features for global waste mapping.

Project Overview

Problem

We dispose of over 460 million tons of plastic annually, recycling only 9%. The rest pollutes our land, water, and air. The core challenge: once plastic is used, it holds little value—and people lack incentive to recycle.

Solution

ZeLoop transforms eco-actions into real-world rewards—tokens, vouchers, and recognition—using blockchain for transparency and trust.

By integrating with VeBetterDAO, we will enable the community to earn B3TR tokens for sustainable actions, including:

  • Dropping off plastic at verified collection points
  • Joining cleanup challenges
  • Mapping recycling bins
  • Reporting litter hotspots

Each action supports the next, creating a loop of impact. The entire system is powered by:

  • Machine learning validation
  • Geolocation verification
  • Transparent, automated rewards

Proven Impact

ZeLoop is already making a difference:

  • 2M+ plastic bottles recovered
  • 40 tons of waste diverted from the environment
  • Active in 70+ countries

One example: ZeLoop’s ambassador Ludovic l’éboueur, a Parisian sanitation worker, walked 800km from Paris to Marseille and collected 13.5 tons of litter.

ZeLoop’s NFT-based Plastic Credit system allows:

  • Businesses to strengthen ESG profiles
  • Individuals to achieve plastic neutrality
  • Transparent, verified waste offsetting

In Argentina, the project facilitated the return of 150 tons of plastic to recyclers.

Target Audience

  • Eco-conscious individuals and communities
  • ESG-focused brands and municipalities
  • NGOs and businesses seeking plastic offset solutions
  • High-potential regions: Nigeria, Argentina, France, UAE, India

Revenue Model

  • B2B Eco Missions: Sponsored clean-up campaigns for brands as CSR/ESG programs
  • Plastic Credits: Sold as NFTs for offsetting plastic use

High-Level Roadmap

Phase 1 – ZeLoop Spotter DApp Launch

  • VeWorld wallet integration
  • B3TR support for in-app challenges
  • Manual token distribution via VeWorld
  • Launch 3–5 eco-missions
  • Target: 5,000+ user engagements

Phase 2 – Feature Expansion

  • Launch ZeLoop Spotter as a progressive web app
  • Add bin mapping and litter spotting features
  • Expand X2E reward system
  • Target: 10,000+ total users, 4,500+ MAU

Grant Milestones

Milestone Description Funding (USD) Deadline
Upfront Initial disbursement $4,000 Immediate
1 Spotter dApp, wallet integration, B3TR support $6,000 1 month
2 Eco-missions launched, voucher redemption enabled $5,000 2 months
3 Web app live, bin mapping, litter spotting, user growth $15,000 5 months

Token Distribution Plan

  • 75% for user rewards
  • 10% for operational costs
  • 10% for team
  • 5% for endorsement incentives

Security Measures

ZeLoop ensures data integrity, user security, and reward fairness through:

  • Geolocation-based submission access
  • Machine learning photo validation
  • Spam prevention limits for repeated submissions
  • OAuth login for authentication
  • Device fingerprinting
  • Manual review & capped rewards to prevent abuse
  • Key management to be finalized with VeChain tech team

Foundation Remarks

ZeLoop offers a compelling sustainability use case that aligns with VeChain’s mission to incentivize real-world, eco-friendly actions through blockchain. With an existing app, active users, and a working rewards model, the team has demonstrated their ability to deliver impact-driven solutions. Their “Recycle-to-Earn” model complements VeBetterDAO’s vision and has the potential to onboard new users into our ecosystem through gamified, verifiable actions.

While technical integration with VeChain (particularly around dual tokens and wallet systems) poses some concerns, we believe ZeLoop’s concept is directionally aligned with our goals. We are optimistic that a VeChain-integrated version prioritizing B3TR rewards could strengthen both community engagement and environmental outcomes. With the right focus, this project could evolve into a valuable addition to the VeBetterDAO ecosystem.

To tackle the issue of global littering, we need more than one Dapp. The diversity of approach strengthens VeBetter capability for real impact.

Vebetter DAO Grant Application – our takeaway

Context:
Our initial proposal narrowly missed approval, falling short by a fraction of percentage. We appreciate the community’s engagement and the feedback received, and upon suggestion of the Grant team we will submit a revised proposal that should addresses the points raised during the previous round.

Key Takeaways & Suggestions:

  1. Community Readiness & Communication Gaps
  • The community appeared unprepared for a succession of five grant proposals. Some members expressed opposition to the grant system itself, advocating for a loan model instead. This sentiment likely contributed to the slim margin by which our proposal was not approved.

  • Suggestion: The VeChain grant team could help by preparing the community in advance, especially when multiple proposals are coming up. Dedicated communication (e.g., AMAs, explainer posts) would help set clear expectations and foster a more informed voting process.

  1. Engagement Barriers for New Applicants
  • We noticed that some longstanding DAO members are hesitant to support new joiners until they know the team better. Since we were selected by the grant team, we had to wait for clarity on the new approval process and its implementation, but had no opportunity to engage with the community directly.
  • Suggestion: Introduce an endorsement process or onboarding stage for new applicants. This would allow the community to get to know the team, ask questions, and build trust before voting.
  1. Misunderstandings & Lack of Interaction
  • Some voters misunderstood aspects of our proposal, sometimes extrapolating beyond the information provided. It was challenging to anticipate community expectations without direct interaction or feedback, since there was no engagement on the Discourse forum and no opportunity to clarify points in real time.

  • Suggestion: The grant team should clearly communicate to the community when due diligence has been conducted on a project (e.g., meetings, pitches, shared documentation). Publicly sharing this process would help build trust and address concerns about project vetting. Also, structured Q&A sessions or feedback threads would help applicants address uncertainties and foster transparency.

  1. Perception of Redundancy Among Dapps
  • Some voters felt our app was redundant with other recycling Dapps already live in the DAO. However, given the global scale of pollution, solving this issue requires not just a few Dapps, but hundreds. Each app has its own unique reach and community, and when combined, they strengthen the DAO’s ecosystem and increase its attractiveness—ultimately reinforcing the value of B3TR for all stakeholders.

  • Suggestion: Encourage a mindset that welcomes diverse solutions and recognizes the value of a versatile, collaborative ecosystem, rather than viewing new projects as competition.

Moving Forward:
We have integrated the feedback received and will refined our approach alo,g our proposal accordingly. Our aim is to align more closely with community expectations and to ensure our project’s value and impact are clearly communicated. We remain committed to transparency, collaboration, and driving positive impact within the VeChain ecosystem.

Thank you for your consideration. We look forward to engaging more closely with both the grant team and the community to ensure a successful outcome for all stakeholders.
